TUIE representatives got acquainted with the best practices of using public-private partnership mechanisms

On February 16, 2021, within the framework of a joint project of UNDP and the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan, a webinar was organized on the topic “Application of public-private partnership (PPP) mechanisms to achieve Sustainable Development Goals”.
Representatives of the Mejlis, the Institute of State, Law and Democracy, a number of ministries and subordinate authorities, banks responsible for the SDG implementation and involved in the process of their funding, as well as the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs participated in the online seminar.
Russian experts on economic policy and state partnership of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO), the PPP National Center (Russian Federation), “WEB.RF” State Development Corporation (foreign economic affairs), Moscow Office of the “Squire Patton Boggs” International Law Firm acquainted the participants with international best practices of funding and attracting investment to achieve the SDG, consolidated in the Addis Ababa Action Agenda, using public-private partnerships.
They presented an overview of the application of PPP mechanisms in a number of countries, the best methods and peculiarities of the preparation and implementation of PPP projects in various sectors of economy.
Public-private partnership in Turkmenistan plays an important role in the implementation of the country’s social and economic programs. And in this, a special role is assigned to entrepreneurs, who fully justify the confidence in domestic private business in ensuring import substitution by actively introducing innovations to increase production volumes and profitability.
Currently, the national parliament is developing the Law “On Public-Private Partnership”.
